I'm tallying 2 weeks at once here since I was away on my UK trip.

Cast on:

*A pair of basic socks using Austermann Step, in the dark blue colourway.
*Fetching, in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran

Cast off:

*The first of the pair of Step socks
*Fetching

Works in Progress:

*Feather and Fan Shawl
*Ivy wrap sweater #2, although am making progress and am half-finished the 2nd front piece
*Simple Stripes fair isle socks
*Basic socks with Step

What I'm coveting:

*More wool from Belle Vallee Wools, who I hope will be attending the needlework festival this year in Toronto!

Weekly tally, Aug 27-Sept 2

September 2nd, 2006 (10:52 am)

Cast on/off this week:

One of the KnitPicks' Simple Stripes Fair Isle socks.
I also cast on for the 2nd one, but it's going to take a while to get to finishing it, I think, partly because i have other neglected projects, and partly because I had to rip out the 1st one halfway through and start over, and now I've got the Second Sock Syndrome like never before. I'll let it rest for a bit.

WIPs still on the go:

*Feather and Fan stole (still no progress in the last week)

*Wrap cardigan sweater (cast off on 1st front piece and have cast on for the 2nd front piece)

What I'm coveting this week:

Yarn stores in London, UK.
I'll be there next week on a trip and am planning to spend my jet-lagged first day on a bit of a yarn crawl. It'll be the day when I have to force myself to keep moving anyhow, so I might as well drag myself all over the city to look at yarn! ;) I'll just have to take the risk that I'll also be in a highly suggestible state and will want to make purchases.
There is John Lewis, a department store, which is also near another department store called Liberty, and apparently these are both down the street from each other.

I'd also like to get to Stash Yarns, which I've seen recommended on the Knitty boards. I might try Loop as well, if I fel the need for another store, although I'm a bit skeptical about their selection variety.

Weekly tally Aug 20-26

August 27th, 2006 (11:30 pm)

Cast off this week:

*Rib and Cable Socks (IK Fall 2005), in Patons Kroy, chelsea tweed.
Very glad to have finished these. They're attractive and comfortable and finishing them removes a little bit of knitting guilt from my life since I cast them on in April and then abandoned them for about 3 months.

Cast on this week:

*Simple Stripes fair isle socks, Knit Picks pattern, in Patons Kroy (black) and Knit Picks Simple Stripes (sweet tarts).
These were going very quickly - I got about an inch past the heel after only 2 days of knitting - until I decided to test one out on my foot. It wouldn't slip over my heel. *sob* So, there was nothing for it but to start ripping it back. I'll have to start over, and I think I will cast on an extra 4 stitches and move up to 3mm needles from the 2.75mm. I hope that will be enough to loosen them up enough to wear.

WIPs still on the go:

*Knit Picks 1-2-3 feather and fan stole. No change in this since last week.

*Wrap sweater, of my pattern forthcoming. I'm a few inches away from casting off on the first front piece.

What I'm coveting this week:

*More wool from Philosopher's Wool. I saw some of their skeins on sale at my LYS yesterday and picked up 3 that match the approximately 3 skeins I have left from the sweater I did in February. I'd thought I'd just do some smaller projects with them, but now I'm thinking that if I just get 3 more skeins or so, I'd have enough to do a Colour Your Own sweater. This is very tempting ;)

Weekly knitting tally - Aug 13-19

August 19th, 2006 (10:46 am)

Cast off this week:

-the Ravenclaw Quidditch cardi, including all finishing and zipper installation. I used the Vogue Quick Reference book for the zipper help and it was great. Sewing it in by hand took some time but I'm pleased with how it looks

-the Austermann Step (Brombeer colourway) basic socks. I love these! The yarn is incredibly comfortable, and I can't wait to cast on for another pair in a different colourway.

WIPs still on the go:

-the Rib and Cable Socks from IK Fall 2005. I've turned the heel and finished the gussets on Sock #1, so now it's just the long stretch ahead for the foot. After working with the Step yarn, though, Patons Kroy feels so rough. ;)

-the KnitPicks 1-2-3 feather and fan stole, with Elann Quechua. I've not done a single stitch on this for about 2 weeks...may have to give it some time this weekend

-a wrap sweater, and have just finished the back piece. A slight modification to a forthcoming pattern.

What I'm coveting this week:

-the MagKnits ballet camisole, which has been on my list for a month and has the yarn stashed and ready!

-the new Interweave Knits patterns, particularly the Breton Jacket. What can I say, wrap sweaters are my weakness ;)

Some progress...

August 11th, 2006 (12:34 pm)

Progress has been made on a pair of socks - I'm about 3 inches in on the 2nd sock of a pair with 'Austermann Step' yarn, in the Brombeer colourway. I love the feel of this yarn, I can't wait to knit more. If only sock needles didn't irritate my hands so quickly :)

I'm also making progress on a Ravenclaw sweater, and hope to finish that this weekend - it just needs half of the back piece, then the seams, collar, and zipper. Fingers crossed!

If only I could just knit all day long...

(no subject)

August 4th, 2006 (10:35 am)

Even though it's been hot the last couple of weeks I've persisted with the knitting...and learned that socks are definitely the way to go. They're small, portable, and the yarn doesn't get too sweaty under my hands.

The alpaca shawl I've been working on, on the other hand, is far too warm to keep up with! That may have to get set aside altogether until later in the month.

But I must admit that sweaters are my weakness. Projects I'm currently coveting:

*Ballet Camisole, from MagKnits

*Mariah, from Knitty

*CeCe, from ChicKnits

And others, of course, but those are ones i've been thinking about lately. So many projects, so little time!
